Will W (Physical Education A Level)

I chose to study A Level PE as I’ve always had a deep passion and interest in sport. Learning about how the body functions to execute accurate and precise fine movements to forceful and powerful gross movements fascinates me. Modules such as the history of sport is also very intriguing, particularly learning about the development of sport from its raw form in the 18th century to the highly commercialised and codified games we all play now.

My time at college has been great. It has great facilities, teachers and people which all help to create a good balance of learning and socialising. The main skill I will take away from college are organisational skills as the 50/50 timetable means that you must hold yourself accountable for doing all your work and revision and hopefully this should prepare me well for university.

Representing the College rugby team has contributed to some of my fondest memories at Godalming. Training sessions on Tuesday and Friday mornings and matches on a Wednesday are always a highlight of the week and the environment is very welcoming. Not only is the sport played to a very high level, but the programme is very good at helping to build friendships with people you would have otherwise not met. Sport as an enrichment provides another reason (beyond academics) to look forward to college!
